Hot off the Press

So, maybe I’ve only been updating a couple times a week – you weren’t expecting a powerhouse news site, were you?

Although I’ve been busy, and trying out a lot of new (to me) Apps, nothing is really standing out this week as something I want to write many paragraphs about here. So, I’ll default to my regular News roundup.

The big story (at least, outside of the US Borders) this weekend will invariably the international launch of the iPad. However, as I have no intention of buying one in the foreseeable future, I will direct your attentions to iPad in Canada for all the late-breaking, up-to-the-minute news that I know you’re craving.

Other than that, here are a couple of other things that happened this week:

- Twitter for iPhone (formerly Tweetie) launched. The official iPhone App of twitter is now available, and is free. I haven’t personally tried it out yet, as I mostly tweet from home (using TweetDeck).

- Mozilla announced an App, called Firefox Home. The big story here is just that it’s Not Firefox, which is a shame.

- There was much added much fuel to the fire of the rumour that the expected ‘New iPhone’ is coming soon by Apple ceasing sales of the 3G on their online store. As I’m one of the many droves of people who will be lining up Launch Day to get the new device, this was pretty exciting news.

Which brings us to WWDC 2010, which starts next Monday.

The rumour mill is working overtime on this one, and aside from the iPhone, many people are suspecting some ‘Surprises’ from Steve and his Keynote. All I really care about is a new iPhone, I’m very much looking forward to retiring my 2G. Since Apple has made it well known that the focus of this conference will be Apps-Centric (even going so far as using the tagline ‘The center of the App universe’) I think that I’ll probably be pleasantly surprised at whatever they announce, and will do my best to pay attention enough to post whatever I find newsworthy. As is my charge.
