Mission Statement
I thought I’d make a page here concerning what I hope to accomplish with this site, and my review process.
I’m an App Enthusiast, not just a Reviewer, I hope that I am able to openly discuss, promote and dissect Apps from all angles. I want to be a part of the App Community in bringing excited users together with creative developers, and give the world my opinion along the way.
You’ll find information about all aspects of iOS Apps on this site, not just reviews.
This is a hobby, and something I do for fun, not profit. I’m not going to become a shill for PR Agencies to increase their revenue profits for blah blah blah, that’s just gross. I’m following the OATS Oath (which you’ll find below), and will do my best to be honest and upfront about all aspects of my blogging about this subject.
Details about my Review Process
Step 1) Submit your App for Review, please be sure to follow the guidelines on the Submission Page.
Reviewing
Once I agree to review your App, I will download it within 24/48hrs and begin testing. Some Apps take only a hour to try out, some take weeks, so I’ll give you an approximate time frame on how long it’s going to take me to review and post about your App.
If you have provided me with promo codes for my readers, I will then host a giveaway in the method of my choice (Twitter, Comments, etc), this usually lasts about 24-48hrs. You will be notified of any unused promo codes, so that they don’t go to waste.
**Please Note** That I will absolutely correct any factual errors in my reviews, however I will not edit any other portion of my review, regardless of the rating I’ve provided you with. Please keep in mind that reviews are subjective, and in the end I’m writing about my opinion of your App.
Disclosure
Because I do request that developers supply me with a promo code if I decide to review their app, or if I really like description of an App (or the free version) I request a promo code from the Developers, I usually don’t pay for the Apps I’ve reviewed.
Any re-post of an article I’ve written for another site will be marked as such.
*Most Importantly*
Regardless if I pay for an App, or get a promo code – I’ll never let that prejudge my opinion, and I’m viciously truthful about whether Apps are worth what they cost. For the most part if it’s not worth downloading, I won’t write about it, though.
Never expect a Good Review – always expect an Honest Review.
My OATS Oath
(Find more info about what the heck OATS is)
WE, THE CONSTITUENT SITES OF THE ORGANIZATION OF APP TESTING STANDARDS, have gathered under the auspices of O.A.T.S. with a common goal: to improve the quality of iPhone games and App criticism. While we applaud the great diversity of opinion now available to consumers looking for iPhone App reviews, it is equally clear to us that not all of these sources have put the best interests of the readership first. We hope to combat such unscrupulous journalism by holding ourselves to a higher standard.
TO THAT END:
1. WE PLEDGE to never mix business with editorial. We reject all forms of paid reviews, including “express reviewing” fees. Advertising on an O.A.T.S. site will have no bearing whatsoever on whether we decide to review an App, or on the nature of coverage we give it, when and if we do;
2. WE PLEDGE to clearly mark all advertisements as such on our sites;
3. WE PLEDGE to ensure that each of our reviews is as thorough, accurate, honest, and fully informed as possible;
4. WE PLEDGE to promptly correct all factual mistakes in our reviews, and to post an Editor’s Note when we do;
5. WE PLEDGE that all editorial work appearing on our sites is our own;
6. WE PLEDGE to allow disagreement, dissent, and complaint through reader commentary, and to never censor it;
7. WE PLEDGE that all App reviews will follow the same process, whether a particular App is obtained via promo code, purchase, or ad-hoc distribution;
8. WE PLEDGE that site promotions or contests involving promo code giveaways will not influence any review in any way.
