My DJ, pretty awesome music App

I was contacted, repeatedly, by the developer of this app to review it as his app was recently featured in the New and Noteworthy section of the Canadian iTunes store. Not being much of a music buff, I didn’t really see the appeal, I honestly have less music on my iPhone and iPad than I do Mbs (or more Like Gb) of Apps. I guess that would be logical though – iPhoneAppGirl and all.

But since this guy was seriously enthusiastic about his App, and seemed to really want my opinion and the attention of my very limited viewership, I thought I’d try it out. I was also swayed in part by the already enthusiastic reviews that he has received on the App Store. And the fact that the App is only $0.99.

I was surprised that was impressed. This is pretty slick music App and offers something I neither thought would be necessary or appealing, the ability to scroll throughout parts of your songs in your music library, at determined intervals.

For example: you can set it up on random (or create an App specific playlist) and listen to 30 seconds of each song (starting from a random spot in the song) in succession. Hence, the DJ factor. Of course, you could always set it up as a regular music player, listening to your songs or create playlists, using the fade-in/out, but that would be boooring. Honestly, I don’t know how it does it but it almost always chooses the BEST sections of songs to play, it’s awesome. A little insight into my limited music library: it works AMAZINGLY with Lady Gaga songs.

I strongly suggest that anyone interested in trying out a new music app check this one out, you might be surprised how much fun it is to essentially create mashups of some of your favorite songs. Additionally, you can also post what song you’re listening to via Facebook or Twitter from within the App. One last feature of note is that it also displays your cover-art pretty great, if you have it.

The only feature that I wish this app had that it doesn’t is the ability to cross-fade. I don’t know if this is even possible but I think that it would make this App near perfect for me. I know I am going to continue to use this App for music while working out, it’s really really great for that. And hope against hope that the next update has cross-fade!
