Omnom Review – Chinese Food in Minutes.
It was a fairly busy week for iPhone Fans in the States, preorders for the iPhone 4 began (failed, began again, delayed, failed again, etc). While we’re sitting up here in the Great White North still waiting to hear when it’ll even be released.
So, I had some time to play around with a really great new App called Chinese Food in Minutes. Since I just posted the iPhone Wallpapers I made, and showed a little of my culinary geekyness, I thought it would be only appropriate to followup by doing so even further.
The App is made by Adduce Studios in conjunction with Channel 5 (it’s a British thing) and the UK Celebrity/TV Chef Ching-He Huang based on her TV Show and Book of the same name. British Celebrity Chef offers simple guide to home cooking via iPhone App? This concept sounds familiar.
It’s pretty much a recipe App, but specifically for quick/easy Chinese meals. It’s feature packed, with Videos for every recipe, integrated Menu planning and shopping lists. I really like that this App caters to both people who may have watched the show as well as those who haven’t. You can search within the App for recipes containing certain ingredients, or by category – but if you saw an episode and want to find a recipe from it – you can also look by Episode. There are quite a few other neat features, such as emailing recipes within the App, or getting suggestions on dishes that match.
The layout is great, the artwork is great, the video is great. This App is great! I think that people would be more included to purchase this App since it is one specific cuisine. I’m not getting a hodgepodge of recipes, like you might with the Nigella or Jamie Oliver Apps, I know I’m getting an array of Chinese Dishes, and I know I’ll be reaching for it the next time I want to make something more interested than vegetable stir-fry. Check it out on the App Store for $3.99!
Reviewing food Apps while hungry is Dangeresque, *growl*, shut up stomach!
